After President Donald Trump’s executive actions with regard to restricting/blocking immigration/refugees from entering the US started to producing results, drama ensued in the mainstream media and in far-left liberal circles like Hollywood.
Tens of tear-jerking stories about poor refugees, noble scientists (from Iran) and Oscar-prize nominees (also from Iran) being trapped (as in detained) at airports across the country were pedaled on Saturday by various liberal mouthpieces.
To add more drama, a federal judge (appointed by Barack Obama, nota bene) blocked partially Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration, ruling that refugees&others who were trapped on Saturday at airports on US territory should be allowed to stay, yet it’s not clear what will happen next.
Judge Ann Donnelly stopped short of allowing the refugees to get into the US, nor issued a ruling over the constitutionality of Mr. Trump’s executive actions. The court ruling only refers to the airport detainees and the ones currently in transit, but it doesn’t affect in any way, shape of form the ban going forward. Trump’s reaction over this act of defiance by an American court will be interesting to say the least.
After an emergency hearing in a New York city courtroom, a bunch of immigration lawyers who sued the government trying to block the White House order estimated that there are between 100 and 200 people detained at US airports upon arrival in the wake of the executive order signed by Trump on Friday afternoon.
Protests erupted on Saturday at JFK airport in support of 2 detained refugees from Iraq and there were others (protests) around the country. Despite mainstream media’s claim that the protests were spontaneous and organized on social media, it definitely looks like that they were actually organized by CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations). CAIR is deemed as a terrorist organization in the United Arab Emirates and it’s also accused of being involved in funding terrorist organizations like HAMAS.
What no one in the mainstream media is saying is that President Trump’s Muslim/refugee ban is totally constitutional, as the POTUS has broad executive powers with regard to US immigration, i.e. who is allowed to enter or not. Let me quote from section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act from 1952:
Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.
In layman’s terms, President Donald Trump can ban whoever he wants for whatever reason and for as long as he sees fit.
