The New York City Police Department (NYPD) responded to reports of a suspicious package found in the lobby of Trump Tower on Tuesday.
The NYPD and the New York City Fire Department were on the scene. Officials were able to evacuate the building located in Manhattan, according to multiple reports.
We can see in TV footage that people were leaving the building. According to the report, the evacuation was part of the protocol.
After investigating the suspicious bag, the building was cleared by the NYPD. What officials found was a backpack filled with children’s toys, sources said.
Peter Donald, an NYPD spokesman, tweeted, “Out of an abundance of caution, NYPD Bomb Squad is responding to a suspicious package in the lobby of Trump Tower. Updates to follow.”
He tweeted after investigation. “All clear at Trump Tower following the earlier suspicious package in the lobby.”
Trump Tower, a 58-story skyscraper located on Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, is home and office President-elect Donald Trump, who is currently in Florida at his Mar-a-Lago estate with his family. The skyscraper, after the presidential election, took the attention of supporters and protesters of Trump.
