Top U.S. Spy Agency Does Not Endorse CIA Claim About Russia Hacking

Ryan, McConnell Back CIA Assessment Over Trump

The drama continues and confusion is the word of the day as the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, basically the overseers of all the US spy agencies, does not endorse CIA’s claims that Russians hacked the DNC with the intention of helping President Elect Donald Trump to win the White House.

According to three ODNI officials on Monday, even if the Office of the Director of National Intelligence does not dispute the Central Intelligence Agency’s analysis with regard to Russian hacking ops, they do not endorse it due to the lack of conclusive evidence. Legalese aside, there is no proof from the CIA that Moscow officials intended to help Donald Trump to win the 2016 elections.

This is it, cut and dried. The officials from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence declined to be named but it’s interesting to notice that their position gives Donald Trump fresh ammo in his new war with the CIA, whose assessment was rejected by the President Elect remarks over the weekend as nothing short of ridiculous.

Donald Trump emphasized that CIA failed to produce any hard evidence to support their claims and to add to confusion, Josh Earnest, Obama’s White House spokesman just had a Freudian slip today during his daily briefing, saying that China was behind the claimed 2016 election hacking:

An ODNI official was quoted as saying:

“ODNI is not arguing that the agency (CIA) is wrong, only that they can’t prove intent. Of course they can’t, absent agents in on the decision-making in Moscow.”

Also, the three officials from the ODNI said that the FBI declined to accept/endorse CIA’s assessments about Russia meddling in the US elections due to the same reasons, i.e. the fact that FBI’s modus operandi so to speak requires them to make cases which can stand up in a court of law, i.e. something more solid than “analysis” and “hear-say”.

REP Senator John McCain said on Monday that there was no intel about Russians hacking the DNC/RNC with the intent of affecting the US elections, though he embraced CIA’s/mainstream-media’s point of view that it was those pesky ruskies behind the RNC breach (zero evidence provided, obvious is not an argument) :

“It’s obvious that the Russians hacked into our campaigns, but there is no information that they were intending to affect the outcome of our election and that’s why we need a congressional investigation,”

On a funnier note, let’s see how simple logic destroys mainstream media’s conspiracy theory about Russians trying to influence the US elections:
