Trey Gowdy Isn't Taking Any Schiff. He Took A Wrecking Ball To Democrats' Criticism Of The FISA Memo

Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, a well known Republican who just announced he’s going to exit the political life to pursue a career in the private sector, went on record on Face the Nation and dismissed  the left’s criticism of the recently declassified FISA memo, which details surveillance abuses within the DOJ and the FBI during Obama era. Trey Gowdy downplayed Democratic lawmakers and FBI concerns about the memo allegedly compromising intelligence methods and sources. Gowdy said:

“But it’s both the Steele dossier, and who paid for it, and whether or not it was vetted, but it’s also what was not in it. This is an application to a court. So, I get that Adam Schiff and others are worried about what’s not in my memo. I wish that they were equally concerned about what’s not in the FISA application, which is a lot of really important information about the source, and its sub-sources, and the fact that he was hired by the DNC and the Clinton campaign, and the fact that he was biased against President Trump. That is all information that the– that the finder of fact is entitled to.

If revealing the FBI and DOJ can use fake info to defraud the court to get a FISA warrant is going to “compromise” their ability to get similar warrants, something is really really wrong in our government. The declassified FISA memo released on Friday also reveals that criminals within the FBI can defraud, and certainly have defrauded, the FISA court with impunity.

It is time to repeal The Patriot Act, and all of its dangers to the liberties bestowed upon American citizens by God. I have little doubt that the NSA/DOJ/FBI have used the FISA process to spy on law-abiding citizens. We live in a police state because of the Patriot Act. Repeal now and dismantle the Department of Homeland Security, and make the FBI get back to the work of protecting American citizens from real threats.

The Patriot Act was bad, but Obama made all of that stuff even worse with the NDAA and repealing laws against using propaganda on the US public. There was a whole cabal of deep state types who exploited 9-11 (whatever you believe about THAT affair) to give big government enormous powers to basically end the rights of citizens to privacy and fair trial.

Obama took the powers created under Cheney and gave them a massive dose of crack – then filled the DOJ and FBI with cronies which supported the unbroken succession of deep state-approved presidents. Hence they were royally pissed when Trump won despite all the dirty tricks and spying. There is still a need for some spying and special legal tools, but the spy agencies are way out of control – and secret courts which approve 99.8% of the warrants they see are never a good idea.
