Russia’s President Vladimir Putin placed his troops on high alert on Wednesday during NATO’s massive military exercises which are currently underway in Eastern Europe (Lithuania).
According to tabloid-mainstream media, Vladimir Putin is preparing for war and all that nonsense. In reality, all these moves are basically posturing and training exercises which are normal, i.e. this is not the first and definitely not the last time we’ll see such military drills at the NATO-Russia border.
Vladimir Putin is well known for keeping his troops combat ready and prepared for a time of war. Russia’s defense ministry confirmed that SAM combat squads of S-400 Triumph (air defense missile systems) were put on combat duty in the Moscow Region and the central industrial region of the country.
According to a statement from the Defense Ministry:
“Units of the air defense force responsible for defending Moscow and the central industrial region have been put on highest combat alert. The air defense mission involves fully-manned combat crews.”
This marks the S-400’s first real test since their deployment and that’s due to Russian’s Air force nationwide combat readiness drill ordered by President Putin on Tuesday.
The drill involves 1700 pieces of military equipment including 200 SAM missile launchers and 150 aircraft, together with 45,000 soldiers.
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the drill included a snap check of Russia’s massive S-300 and S-400 missile defense systems.
NATO is currently expanding its military presence in Eastern Europe at almost Cold War levels, under the pretext of Russia’s so called annexation of Crimea in 2014(Crimea was a standalone republic with its own Parliament and it was a referendum and all that, not an annexation) and her alleged support of Russian separatists in Eastern Ukraine.
