Apple bit the bullet and issued an apology to its customers for deliberately slowing down older iPhones without notifying them first, via an official blog post that reads:
We know that some of you feel Apple has let you down. We apologize. First and foremost, we have never — and would never — do anything to intentionally shorten the life of any Apple product, or degrade the user experience to drive customer upgrades. All rechargeable batteries are consumable components that become less effective as they chemically age and their ability to hold a charge diminishes. Time and the number of times a battery has been charged are not the only factors in this chemical aging process.
So, Apple has been caught red-handed, i.e. they intentionally slow down phones as they age to make people think their phone is getting old and needs replacing. This battery thing is their fabricated lie to cover their misdeeds, any engineer will tell you Apple’s story is pure BS. What Apple did by slowing down the phones remotely via software updates meant that even those customers who did replace the batteries still had phones that operated more slowly. So what Apple did was not for the customers benefit, but their own greed.
Apple and Microsoft: filling our landfills by forcing upgrades. I know of various work places that had to throw out dozens of computers because of the Windows 10 forced upgrade (drivers, software will refuse to work.) All Microsoft and Apple are doing is filling landfills with toxic batteries to force us to buy more. Ask any IT tech and they will tell you that between this year and last year, they’ve thrown away hundreds( if not thousands!) of computers, both PC and MAC. I thought they were hippies that loved the environment?
Apple did let us down, as has Google, Facebook, et al. There is no trust in today’s world – not in the above nor in the FBI, DOJ, media or higher education. Those of us who are older remember a time when your word was your bond and you could count on truth from all directions. Phony, shallow and seekers of control, power and greed are taking this generation to ruin. No, Apple, your apology falls flat.
