Researchers have developed a new technology that can be used to accurately read and interpret the human mind.
According to reports, the manner in which the new technology is expected to work is akin to the way modern-day hacking tools work – collect information surreptitiously.
The new technology is expected to facilitate the process of reading and analysing specific neural responses of the human brain when a person is performing some odd tasks.
Currently, the new technology has been created in the form of a game called Flappy Whale. The chief scientist behind the development of the technology, Tamara Bonaci, says that the new technology is able to read the neural responses of persons who are playing the game, without giving a hint of doing so.
Speaking at the Enigma Security Conference, where the new findings were presented, the University of Washington-based researcher indicated that the new technology provides an effective way of literally hacking the minds of individuals.
‘Players of the game can concentrate on specific aspects of the game without being aware of what the technology is doing behind the interface of the game,’ the researcher added.
It has also been reported that the essence of the new technology is to analyse how individuals associate specific images with particular responses. Hence, the technology collects information on how a player behaves when the player sees images of specific objectives. By reading the neural responses of the player when specific images occur in the course of the play, the technology automatically analyses the manner in which the individual responds to specific forms of stimuli.
‘The electrical signals that we produce when we interact with different forms of stimuli contain a lot of important information about our fears, aspirations, prejudices and other aspects that define our character traits,’ the researcher added.
It has been reported that the new technology can be applied in a number of scenarios.
Basically, researchers are likely to follow up on the research by exploring various ways in which the new technology can be applied in the area of biomedical research.
Biomedical devices research is an area of medicine that concentrates on how individuals interact with equipment within the context of healthcare. It is expected that the new technology can be used to refine the manner in which individuals interact with medical equipment. It is also expected that researchers will use other technologies such as virtual reality, to refine the manner in which the new mind reading technology works.
