Charlotte Police Arrests Air Traffic Controller With WMD

UPDATE: The sensational WMD is actually a pipe bomb: Members of the CMPD Bomb Squad also responded and confirmed that it was a homemade pipe bomb.

In case you’ve already forgotten Iraq and their WMDs (cue Colin Powell’s voice), well, WMD stands for “weapons of mass destruction”. And today’s news is that an air traffic controller working for the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) was arrested by Charlotte police on Friday for allegedly possessing such a devilry, i.e. a WMD of sorts.

Yes, I know, it sounds like a B-rated movie, but here’s what we know so far:

According to a NBC News report, the suspect is 30 year old Paul George Dandan and as per an FBI source, he was charged with possession of a WMD, whatever that means. Paul Dandan is being detained in the Mecklenburg County Jail under a $150k bond. The FBI is involved in the investigation, as they’re assisting Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, yet federal charges against the suspect are improbable at the time.

It’s strange that neither the FBI nor police officials offered details about the alleged weapon of mass destruction Dandan possessed. As if flying was not unpleasant enough already, with all that TSA nonsense…The details are scarce as this is a developing story. Stay tuned for more.
