Man Arrested after Car Rams into Pedestrians in London

A car was reportedly drove into pedestrians in the Islington area of London, on Essex Road outside the Old Queens Head Hotel just before 11 PM local time, creating an immediate response from the security forces, while the area was locked down.

The initial reports from the scene describe 4 people being injured in the incident with their condition unknown. The occupants of the car fled the scene on foot after they’ve exited the vehicle.

Judging from recent events, i.e the terrorist attack at Westminster Bridge from a few days ago, there are fears that this one too is similar in nature, but the information is scarce.

The police released a statement according to which they do not treat this incident as being terrorism related. However, there are reports about helicopters buzzing the scene and a knife being found near the car in question:

One male has been arrested with the police officers still investigating, while road closures are still in place.
