A Bangladeshi national (the suspect was carrying a photo ID on him with the name Akayed Ullah) was arrested after he set off an IED (improvised explosive device) at the Port Authority Bus Terminal subway station early on Monday morning in an ISIS inspired terrorist attack, according to police sources. The suspect (pictured above courtesy of New York Post) is a 27 year old male who lives in Brooklyn, New York and it had wires attached to his body as per law enforcement reports.

The IED in question was a 5 inch pipe bomb together with a battery pack. The suspect was armed with the respective IED as he was walking through the Manhattan transit hub. Fortunately, the bomb malfunctioned, i.e. it did not fully detonate, injuring the suspect who was taken into custody by police.

At least three people were injured in the blast, but there were no casualties and no one was seriously hurt. President Trump was briefed about the incident.

The explosion has been felt in a subway station near NY’s Port Authority in Midtown Manhattan around 6:30am Monday morning, in the close vicinity of Times Square.
